India has promoted Pavan Chandra as managing director, West and South. Chandra will be responsible for developing new businesses. He will also oversee the operations for the two regions.
Earlier, Chandra was in charge of strategic resources and Zed Digital as chief strategy officer. He will continue to hold that position and also shoulder the additional responsibilities.
Talking to afaqs!, Chandra shares the goals and plans that he has for himself and the organisation. "The task is twofold. First and foremost being work harder to ensure higher value for money for all our clients. As an organisation, we are strong in Delhi. Now the idea is to grow our base and business in two more markets, Mumbai and Bengaluru. Secondly, aggressively sell the solutions available to clients in the digital and mobile arenas."
Chandra joined ZenithOptimedia in 2004. Recalling one of his most satisfactory assignments, he says, "Working out the model of a touchpoint tracker (TPR) was a satisfying experience. It helps in day to day analysis of how consumers are reacting to a particular brand and the impact or association of a brand with the people. It is the ultimate indicator of the best ROI possible for the investment made."
"Having been part of the industry for the past 17 years, I have learnt and imbibed the best values of all the organisations I have worked with. Each individual place has its own DNA from which one can learn a thing or two," he adds.
Chandra started his career two decades ago as an employee in a computer firm. Later, he moved on to The Times of India and advertising agencies such as JWT, O&M and Lintas (now Lowe). His work also offered him the opportunity of exploring international markets such as Singapore and Taiwan.
Chandra will be based in Mumbai. He replaces Rabe Iyer, who moved out of the organisation recently.
He concludes by saying, "Digital and mobile are the fields to be watched. With five million mobile users every month, the time is right for advertisers and brands to take the medium seriously, exploiting the unparalleled advertising opportunities that it presents. Our thrust will be to increasingly offer clients various digital solutions such as web design, search, display, SEM (search engine marketing) and other mobile applications."
