Mohit Hira, who left Times Internet (Indiatimes.com) in September, has moved to NIIT. The company has confirmed that he has joined there as head of e-learning – retail.
Industry sources reveal that NIIT has plans to set up a separate subsidiary, which Hira is likely to head. However, Hira was not available to provide any details on his role at NIIT at the time of filing this report.
Hira is an alumnus of Jadavpur University in Kolkata. He began his career in advertising as a copy writer in Contract's Kolkata office in 1986. He spent 16 of his 17 years in advertising at Contract and handled several responsibilities while there, from creative to account management. For the one year that he was out of Contract, 1998-99, he worked with DDB Needham in Muscat. Hira returned to India in June 1999 as manager of the Kolkata branch of Contract. In 2001, he moved back to Delhi as branch head of Contract.
Hira ended his advertising career in 2003 and moved to Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. He worked there as brand head for Navbharat Times and the Delhi edition of The Economic Times. In 2005, he was appointed director of Times Internet, the Internet arm of The Times of India Group.
