Arun Kapoor joins Essel Group as director

Kapoor will head the subscription and placement businesses of Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Wire and Wireless India and Zee Turner

The Essel Group has announced the appointment of Arun Kapoor as director of its distribution businesses. The post is a freshly created one in the company’s new organisational structure. Kapoor took over his new post in Mumbai on December 3 and reports to Subhash Chandra.

Kapoor now heads the subscription and placement businesses of Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Wire and Wireless India and Zee Turner. His job responsibilities do not include Dish TV, which he headed before he moved out to Big TV, Reliance ADAG's direct to home (DTH) wing, as chief executive officer and president. He spent just six months at Big TV.

Kapoor is a management graduate from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute in Mumbai. He has more than 25 years’ experience in management, marketing and sales related functions and has helped evolve a wide bandwidth of brands. He has worked with companies such as the UB Group, Gillette, Pepsi, Spice Cell, Airtel, IBM Daksh, Hutch, Dish TV and Reliance ADAG. He played a vital role in setting up and managing the operations of Spice Cell during his tenure with Bharti.

For the record, the Essel Group has a diverse portfolio spread across media, packaging, entertainment, technology-enabled services, infrastructure development and education.
