Roddam in dual role for Deutsche Bank

Deutsche Bank has appointed Venkatesh Roddam as chief operating officer (COO) for Deutsche Bank in India as well as head of operations for India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Roddam was previously head of custody business management and product planning for India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Roddam joined Deutsche Bank AG, India, in August 1997 and was responsible for managing the profitable growth of Deutsche Bank's custody business in the country during the past year. Under Rodham's aegis, Deutsche Bank got the ‘top-rated' status in the Global Custodian Survey for the last year.

The COO position was created as a result of the growth of Deutsche Bank's business activities in India. Roddam will work closely with the various heads of businesses to ensure the delivery of high quality and cost-effective support services. To this end, he will manage operations in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, as well as coordinate, on behalf of the chief country officer for India, the other service functions.

While announcing this appointment, chief country officer for India, Javad Shirazi, noted, "Venkatesh's broad-based and highly successful background in banking is expected to significantly contribute to Deutsche Bank's growing operations in the country."

Roddam's banking career began when he joined ANZ Grindlays Bank, as a management trainee in 1987. He has since garnered over 10 years of banking experience as a manager in the various Indian branches of ANZ Grindlays, as well as HDFC Bank Limited.

He also spent two years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as the operations manager for Middle East Bank, a subsidiary of Emirates Bank International Limited.
