Dainik Bhaskar launches Weekend Bhaskar for Chandigarh

Weekend Bhaskar is a six page colour supplement distributed free along with the Saturday and Sunday editions of Dainik Bhaskar in the Chandigarh area

Dainik Bhaskar launched a weekly lifestyle supplement, called Weekend Bhaskar, on January 16 in the Chandigarh market. The Chandigarh edition covers Panchkula and Mohali as well.

Weekend Bhaskar is a six page colour supplement distributed free along with the Saturday and Sunday editions of Dainik Bhaskar in the Chandigarh area.

The supplement will have a mix of local news stories and soft features such as entertainment, Bollywood, fashion, shopping, personal and professional grooming and relationships. With the target audience comprising youngsters and SEC A readers, Weekend Bhaskar will focus on news that may be of interest to the youth.

Talking to afaqs!, Sanjeev Kotnala, vice-president, marketing and communication, Dainik Bhaskar, says, “The city of Chandigarh is changing fast and we found an opportunity for such a product. This new supplement will help us strengthen our presence in Chandigarh and its neighbouring cities.”

According to Kotnala, the supplement will help readers identify what's happening in their neighbourhood and feature interesting happenings in the three cities.

In an official communiqué, Rajiv Jaitly, president, ad sales and marketing, Bhaskar Group, says, “Weekend Bhaskar is the outcome of thorough content research in the Chandigarh market. Dainik Bhaskar is one of the largest read newspapers in Chandigarh and also in the CPH (Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana) area.

“We expect Weekend Bhaskar to further enhance this relationship and the trust that Dainik Bhaskar already enjoys with the SEC A segment.” The focus of the new supplement will be on local ads.

For the record, the Bhaskar Group is a media conglomerate with its presence in newspapers, radio, event marketing, printing, short code, the Internet and mobile services.
