Alvares has been president of Tribal DDB for close to three years

Leroy Alvares will soon be the new president for Wunderman India, the direct marketing arm of Rediffusion - Y&R. Alvares comes in from Tribal DDB, Mudra's digital arm, where he was president.

Alvares joined Tribal DDB in 2006 as country head for all four offices in India. He has more than 10 years of experience in the industry. Alvares worked with iContract, the one-to-one direct marketing arm of Contract Advertising, as the profit centre head for its Mumbai operations, before taking over from CVS Sharma at Tribal DDB. He spent six years at iContract, prior to which he was with Ogilvy India.

While Alvares was at iContract, the agency won its first-ever Gold Lion at Cannes in the Direct Marketing category for ICICI Bank, in 2004.

For the record, Wunderman entered India in 1997 as Wunderman Cato Johnson (WCJ) in Chennai. The direct marketing agency was renamed to Wunderman India in 2003. Its clients in India include Ford, Castrol, Volvo, Tata Motors, Jet Airways, Cadbury's, Pond's, ING Vysya, ICICI Prudential and Airtel.

Wunderman India has offices in Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi and Mumbai.
