STAR Majha receives prestigious 'Sheti Mitra' Award

For those of you born in the nineties or later, word "Krishi Darshan" brings you the nostalgia of the good old DD days where this agriculture based TV program which started in 1966 enlightened the torch of green revolution. The program was inspirational for the farmers.

From than the requirements of the nation and farmers have changed. Scientific method of farming has overtaken the traditional ones and technology led agriculture has evolved as an industry in itself. Keeping the pace up, the Marathi News leader STAR Majha has brought the new generation agricultural based program "Saat Barachya Batyama".

The program focuses on farmer's interest and guides them with better method of farming. Recently the efforts of the program were recognized by Maharashtra Government by bestowing its prestigious awards "Sheti Mitra" to the channel. The award is the State's highest recognition of excellence in contribution & development of farmers. The award was given to the channel in Nagpur on 1st July 09 by Maharashtra Governor S C Jamir, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan and his deputy Chhagan Bhujbal.

STAR Majha started this programme on 22nd June 2007 (with the launch of the channel), with the cause of promoting agricultural development in Maharashtra region. The program brings the latest agricultural technological methods of cultivation to the grass root farmers in their easy local language. Aired thrice a day at 7:40am, 10:40am, and 12:20pm, the show focuses on intelligent, eye-opening insight into the various methods of increasing crop productivity through the revolutionized directions. The show also credits the innovative farming practices and airs success stories of farmers. A constant update is also presented to the farmers about the government initiative in farming and how local farmers can take advantage of those initiatives.

The program is specially recognized because of its special programming during drought in 2008 in Maharashtra region. The program "Dushkalit Pavali" (Survival from drought) brought various methods to conserve water and harvest the crops in difficult situation. Another recognized initiative is "Majhi Baag" (My Garden) which focuses on various methods to clean environment.

With these kinds of initiatives, STAR Majha has been able to make a deep dive into the heart of Marathi population which eventually makes it an undisputed leader in the genre.
