Shantonu Aditya quits BloombergUTV

Aditya had joined UTV in 2007 as executive director, UTV Global Broadcasting and chief executive officer, UTV Entertainment Channel

Shantonu Aditya, chief executive officer, BloombergUTV is learnt to have put in his papers at the organisation. Sources close to the development have confirmed the news to afaqs!.

While Aditya refused to comment on the news, there was no official announcement from the UTV group as well. However, it is believed that the Aditya's decision to move on is a fall out of recent developments at UTV, where the group's English business news channel, UTVi, entered into a strategic content joint venture (JV) with Bloomberg, the global 24-hour business and financial television service.

Following the JV, the English business news channel, UTVi, was renamed BloombergUTV. As part of the restructuring exercise, Aditya was designated chief executive officer, BloombergUTV.

Aditya has been with UTV since 2007, when he joined the organisation as executive director, UTV Global Broadcasting and chief executive officer, UTV Entertainment Channel.

Earlier, Aditya had a two year stint from 2005-07 as chief executive officer, Sahara One. He handled TV and movie businesses at Sahara One. Aditya has also worked for Sony Entertainment Television (now Multi Screen Media) from 2001-05 and served as president, SET Discovery.

He has also been associated with AXN India.

Aditya has been credited with pioneering the pay revenue business model and has handled the distribution and franchise of Indian broadcasting brands such as NDTV, MTV and Nick.
