HT ropes in Vivek Gaur as business head, North East

Gaur, executive director at the India Today Group, has joined Hindustan Times as business head, North East

Hindustan Times has appointed Vivek Gaur as business head, North and East region - a newly created position in the organisation. Earlier, Gaur was executive director, India Today Group.

Based in Gurgaon, Gaur will report to Rajeev Verma, chief executive officer, HT Media. Gaur assumed his new role from Monday. Confirming the development to afaqs!, Gaur says that it was time for him to move on to newer roles.

At the Living Media Group, he was responsible for starting the retail outlet chain, Media Mart and the direct selling business, which he considers his most challenging assignments so far. He adds, "I have been associated with many start ups, the most recent being Media Mart and direct selling. Media Mart today is a 71 outlet chain and the direct selling arm has grown from a Rs 2 crore business to a Rs 80 crore organisation. Combined, they are worth more than Rs 100 crore today."

Armed with an engineering degree from Delhi College of Engineering and a PGDM from IIM Lucknow, Gaur has been associated with various leading organisations. With more than 17 years of experience, he started his career with Tata Motors, where he worked for a year. Subsequently, he moved on to Hindustan Unilever and was associated with the company for 10 years. He has been associated with Living Media for more than six years.
