RAM Week 52: No major upsets in RAM markets

In comparison to Week 51, the last week of 2009 was quieter, with no significant jump in the relative shares of market leaders in the four RAM markets

The Radio Audience Measurement (RAM) data for Week 52 for the four RAM markets is out.

Mumbai

Radio Mirchi is numero uno in the city, with a market share of 17.2 per cent -- a loss of 0.4 percentage points compared to Week 51.

The second and third spots are occupied by Red FM and AIR FM, respectively. Red FM has a market share of 14.2 percent, with a loss of 0.9 percentage points over the previous week. AIR FM has garnered a market share of 12.6 per cent, with a gain of 0.8 percentage points.

Radio City is back at No.4 this week, with a market share of 12.4 per cent at par with its last four weeks' average share. It is followed by Fever FM, which has a market share of 12.1 per cent. Big FM is at No. 6, having garnered a market share of 11.9 per cent.

Radio One and AIR FM Rainbow are at No. 7 and No. 8, respectively, with market shares of 6.9 per cent and 4.9 per cent, respectively.

This week, among the other stations in Mumbai, Vividh Bharati has a market share of 3.5 per cent, followed by Meow FM (2.4 per cent) and Akashvani Mumbai (1.8 per cent).

Delhi

Radio Mirchi leads in the city with a market share of 25.3 per cent -- marginally higher than its last four weeks' average share of 24.9 per cent.

As was the case last week, Fever FM and Air FM Gold are locked in a fierce battle for the next two spots. The two stations have managed to hold on to their last week's positions.

At No. 2, Fever FM has a market share of 18.5 per cent, registering a gain of 0.3 percentage points. AIR FM Gold follows closely, with a market share of 17 per cent, and a loss of 0.7 percentage points. Its average share for the last four weeks was 16.7 per cent; whereas in Week 51, it garnered a share of 17.7 per cent.

Red FM is at No. 4 with a market share of 9 per cent, which is 0.5 percentage points less than its last four weeks' average of 9.5 per cent. Radio City is at No. 5, with a market share of 8.1 per cent, losing 1.3 percentage points, compared to Week 51.

At No. 6, Big FM has a market share of 6.4 per cent; while Radio One, at No. 7, has a market share of 5.8 per cent.

Among the other stations in Delhi in Week 52, Hit FM has a market share of 3.1 per cent; followed by Meow FM (2.7 per cent), AIR FM Rainbow (2.3 per cent), Vividh Bharati (1.9 per cent) and Akashvani Delhi (0.1 per cent).

Bengaluru

Big FM leads in Bengaluru, followed by Radio Mirchi and Fever FM in second and third place, respectively.

This week, Big FM has a market share of 19.4 per cent. Radio Mirchi, with a gain of 0.3 percentage points, has a market share of 17.5 per cent; while Fever FM has 15.5 per cent.

Radio City occupies fourth spot with a market share of 12.1 per cent. AIR FM Rainbow is next, garnering a market share of 10.3 per cent, which is 0.4 percentage points more than its last four weeks' average, as well as its share in Week 51.

Radio One is at No. 6 with a market share of 9.6 per cent; followed by Red FM, which has lost 0.6 percentage points and has a market share of 8.2 per cent.

Among other stations in Bengaluru, Vividh Bharati has a market share of 4 percent; followed by Radio Indigo (2.3 per cent), Gyan Vani (0.6 per cent) and Akashvani (0.4 per cent).

Kolkata

In Week 52, Radio Mirchi leads in the city with a market share of 20 per cent. Big FM and Friends FM are at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

Big FM has a market share of 16 per cent, with a loss of 0.7 percentage points. Friends FM has garnered 14.5 per cent market share, gaining 0.9 percentage points in comparison to Week 51 - thus matching its last four weeks' average share.

Aamar FM is at No. 4 with a market share of 9.3 per cent, registering a loss of 1.6 percentage points over last week and 1.2 percentage points over last four weeks' average share. This week, Red FM has moved up a place to No. 5, gaining 0.8 percentage points to garner a market share of 8.3 per cent.

Fever FM is at No. 6, with a market share of 7.8 per cent. Both Meow FM and Radio One have managed an identical market share of 6.3 per cent each.

In Week 52, among the other stations in Kolkata, AIR FM Rainbow has a market share of 3.8 per cent; followed by AIR FM Gold (3.4 per cent), Akashvani (2.2 per cent), Power FM (1.2 per cent) and Vividh Bharati (0.9 per cent).
