Zenith Optimedia's Rajni Menon joins Carat India as AV-P

Menon will handle the business development responsibilities for Mumbai and also contribute to the buying function of the agency

Rajni Menon has been appointed the associate vice-president for Carat Media's Mumbai office. She will handle the new business development responsibilities for Mumbai and certain national duties as well, including the buying function within the Indian region.

Menon will work with Sushma Jhaveri, general manager, west and south for Carat India. She will report to Kartik Iyer, managing director, Carat India.

In her previous role, Menon was director with Zenith Optimedia, a position she held since April 2009.

Of the newest addition to Carat India's team, Iyer says, "We see her playing a major role in further improving the strategic investment planning for the entire agency, and specifically contributing to the business development efforts in Mumbai."

Menon has spent three years at Group M in various roles, the last of which was as head, buying for Unilever at Fulcrum. "It was during my association with Group M that I got into the buying of media and learned from the gurus," she acknowledges.

Iyer is impressed with Menon's skills in the buying aspect of the business and feels that she would bring a great deal to the Carat stable.

The brands that Menon worked on during her tenure at Group M are PepsiCo, Motorola, Castrol and Onida.

In the past, she has worked with Lintas Media Group, McCann Erickson and Madison Communiations, on brands such as Maruti Suzuki, Coca Cola, Reckitt Benckiser, Gillette and Bacardi.
