This year, the event saw the participation of 37 agencies along with 138 clients, submitting 600 pieces of creative work to vie for 155 awards. Ad Club Bangalore had invited entries from advertising and media agencies for work done between January 01, 2009 and December 31, 2009. The entries were judged by a panel of 14 veterans from the industry.

The function was held at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association Club in Cubbon Park. It was presented by The Times of India and co-sponsored by Imagesbazaar.com, Suvarna TV, 91.1 FM Radio City, afaqs!, Pride Hotel, Kingfisher, Brando and Jagadish Advertising.

Initiated for the Bengaluru ad fraternity in 1987, the Big Bang Awards is a national awards ceremony that recognises creativity in all forms of advertising. Last year, Big Bang received about 4,000 entries.

"There is more to these awards than just trophies. The Big Bang rewards excellence and encourages creative talent. Today, the Indian marketplace is opening up to global players. We need advertising on par with world standards to package and sell our products. We believe these awards are a catalyst in the growth and development of our advertising standards," says Malavika Harita, president, Ad Club Bangalore.
