Pantaloons webcasts fashion show on Facebook

The fashion show for business heads, initiated by Pantaloons, saw a live telecast on the company's Facebook page

A fashion show with a difference saw a broadcast in a different way. Pantaloons' fashion show, where the top business honchos walked the ramp, went live on the Internet on the company's Facebook page.

Pantaloons Style Inc brought in top management executives from various companies to style themselves and upload their pictures for votes in a contest. The contest received more than 15,000 votes from the online respondents.

"Pantaloons' presence on Facebook has been active and doing new and innovative activities will help us reach out to our fan base more effectively," says Zahid Shaikh, head, marketing, Pantaloons.

About three months ago, Pantaloons opened its Facebook account and has been active since then. It currently has about 9,737 fans, of which, Shaikh says, about 4,000 additions were seen for the webcast.

Shaikh adds, "Facebook is a very popular medium amongst all age groups and allows us to connect better with our consumers. These activities generate a lot of enthusiasm amongst fans and their peers."

The contest was judged by an all-women panel, including Schauna Chauhan, chief executive officer, Parle Agro; Manmeet Bhatti, fashion photographer; and Anjali Mukherjee, managing director and co-chairperson, Dr. Anjali Mukherjee's Total Health.

The live webcast on Facebook was available on the Pantaloons Facebook page at 6 pm on March 5. An update was also sent to the fans once the webcast started. The event was conducted by Pantaloons in association with afaqs!.

Pantaloons also updated its Facebook page with the pictures from a recently conducted scooter rally for women, called Women on Wheels, conducted in Mangalore, Nagpur and Ahmedabad as a Women's Day initiative.
