Top three GECs tie in top spot

All three GECs have recorded channel shares of 21 per cent each...

Week 18 registered an interesting development in the general entertainment genre. The top three GECs – STAR Plus, Colors and Zee – tied at the No. 1 spot with channel shares of 21 per cent each. The GRPs garnered by the GECs are 286, 288 and 279, respectively.

Zee's new season of Dance India Dance - Little Masters was the most watched programme on Hindi GECs. It recorded a TVR of 6.7 for the inaugural episode. The TVR recorded for the finale of Dance India Dance, which concluded two weeks ago, was 5.

Sony witnessed a rise in GRPs in Week 18, from 147 to 175. Its share increased from 11 per cent in Week 17 to 13 per cent in Week 18. The growth can be attributed to the fourth season of Indian Idol, which garnered a TVR of 3.

The second rung channels have maintained the status quo. Imagine has retained its 8 per cent share, followed by SAB, which has garnered a 6 per cent share. STAR One and DD1 have garnered 3 per cent share each, while Sahara One and STAR Utsav have garnered 2 per cent share each.

Dance India Dance - Little Masters topped the charts in Week 18, followed by Pavitra Rishta, which recorded a TVR of 6. Uttaran on Colors came close with a TVR of 5.9. Na Aana Is Des Laado and Jhansi Ki Rani have garnered TVRs of 4.9 and 4.8 respectively.

The other shows in the Top 10 list are Pratigya, Bidayi, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo. Colors' new reality show, Chak Dhoom Dhoom, made an entry in the Top 10 list, recording a TVR of 4.4.
