Recently, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) floated two more tenders for in-station advertising rights on Line 6 (Central Secretariat to Jangpura) and Line 2's southern extension (Udyog Bhawan to Saket), both of which are part of Phase II. Overall, in-station rights for 13 underground stations, including Race Course, Jor Bagh, INA, AIIMS, Hauz Khas, and Khan Market are up for grabs.
While the earnest money deposit (EMD) for the Central Secretariat to Jangpura stretch has been fixed at Rs 10 lakh; for Udyog Bhawan to Saket, it is Rs 25 lakh. A total of 113 ad panels are to be placed on Line 6; while the number is 426 for Line 2.
As the network of Delhi Metro penetrates deeper into the city, more such tenders will continue be announced. However, this one is somewhat different from the rest.
Unlike many previous tenders, where the details of the available advertisement area were tentative; the latest tenders not only have a station-wise break up of the ad inventory, but also detail the number of panels to be placed on each location, such as subway entrances, platforms and concourses.
Usually, once a media owner wins ad rights, the first task is to identify sites for ad panels and seek an approval from the tenderer. Now, the concessionaire will be able to save his breath for at least these two tenders.
The tender forms can be obtained from the DMRC office, upon payment of Rs 5,250 through a demand draft favouring Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd, payable at Delhi. The demand draft can be drawn on any scheduled commercial bank, except regional rural banks and local area banks.
The duly completed tender forms will have to be submitted latest by July 21, 2010, to the chief engineer (property development), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited, 2nd Floor, A wing, Metro Bhawan, Fire Brigade Lane, Barakhambha road, New Delhi-110001.
