Vdopia hires Lovnish Bhatia as general manager, business development

Bhatia will be involved in the strategic planning and ad sales functions of Vdopia

Digital video advertising solution provider Vdopia has roped in Lovnish Bhatia as general manager, business development. Earlier, Bhatia was working with Viacom18 as senior manager, business development.

Speaking to afaqs!, Bhatia says, "I will be involved in the strategic planning and ad sales functions and my role will include interacting with web publishers to figure out various video monetisation opportunities and innovation possibilities for advertisers."

Bhatia will report to Debadutta Upadhyaya, vice-president, India, Vdopia. "Bhatia comes with a strong record for building successful business plans and strategies, along with vast experience across functions and media industries such as the Internet and television," Upadhyaya says in an official communiqué.

Bhatia has more than 10 years of experience. He started his career with computer education provider Aptech. Subsequently, he moved to the TV industry. In 2000, he joined Sony Entertainment Television (SET), where he worked for five years. As assistant manager at Sony, Bhatia was the in charge of all new media related activities of the channel. He was involved in the creation, content development and marketing of the SET India website. Later, he moved to NDTV Media, where he handled ad sales for NDTV.com and MSN.co.in.

In 2008, he joined Viacom18 and was looking after the ad sales of MTV India, Nick India and Colors websites.

Jivox is another important player in the online video advertising space in India. Recently, it has received a funding of about Rs 18 crore.
