Ashish Singru replaces Praveen Sharma at Madison Media

Sharma, who was chief operating officer at Madison Media, has quit the agency. Highly reliable sources have informed afaqs! that he will join Google

Praveen Sharma (Perry), chief operating officer, Madison Media Plus, has left the company. Sharma was heading the Bharti (Airtel) account at Madison. Well placed sources in the industry have revealed to afaqs! that Sharma will join Google at its Singapore office.

In an official communiqué, Sam Balsara, chairperson and managing director, Madison World, says, "Perry did a terrific job for us in leading one of our largest businesses and I respect his decision to move from a media agency function. The manner in which he has handled his departure at Madison is an example for younger advertising and media professionals to draw inspiration from."

Sharma has more than 13 years of experience in the industry. He had worked with Lintas for five years in the media planning and buying space. In 2003, he moved to Mediaedge:cia as business director. Subsequently, he joined Madison Communications in 2004.

Ashish Singru will replace Sharma at the agency. Singru is a graduate from IIT Kanpur, with an MBA from the University of IOWA. Earlier, he was working with Microsoft (US) in its corporate marketing group and was responsible for strategic media planning, campaign evaluation and business analytics.

Punitha Arumugam, chief executive officer, Madison Media Group, says, "I am delighted to have Singru in my team and I am sure he will bring fresh thinking and fresh approach based on his experience in US, which will help us take Airtel to the next level of success."
