Network18 promotes Anil Uniyal as CEO of business channels

Uniyal will be responsible for the strategic, financial and operational management of the groups' business news channels - CNBC-TV18 and CNBC Awaaz

Network18 has handed over new duties to Anil Uniyal, chief operating officer, Network18 Media and business head, TV18 Media Operations. Uniyal has been assigned the mandate to head Network18's business news channels - CNBC-TV18 and CNBC Awaaz as its chief executive officer with immediate effect.

In his new role, Uniyal will be responsible for the strategic, financial and operational management of the network. He will report to B Saikumar, group COO, Network18.

He had joined CNBC India in April 2001 as assistant manager and was promoted as national sales head in 2006. During his decade long tenure with the group, he has lead Network18 Media, the commercial arm of the group and was responsible for identifying and capitalising on top line growth opportunities for CNBC channels and Forbes India.

Uniyal, who began his career as an entrepreneur, ran a media services and consulting enterprise and has worked in various capacities at Network18. He has helped build different revenue verticals including inventory sales and set up the customised solutions business for the CNBC channels.

He was one of the first few to join the sales team of the group. Talking about his new role, Uniyal says, "I believe that, as in the last decade, CNBC-TV18 and CNBC Awaaz will lead a new phase of innovation and growth in the business news space."

In an official communiqué, Saikumar says, "Anil has been one of the key executives involved in the growth of Network18's business news channels - CNBC TV18 and CNBC Awaaz - since their respective launches. He is now expected to steer the channels into a whole new phase of leadership and profitability and I am sure that he will be equal to this challenge."
