At JWT, Mahajan will report to Adrian Miller
Jaideep Mahajan aka JD, creative head (Airtel and LG accounts), Rediffusion Y&R has joined JWT as vice-president and executive creative director. Mahajan joined JWT on November 1.
Mahajan is based in JWT's Delhi office and will report to Adrian Miller, chief creative officer. The two met a few times in Malaysia during Mahajan's five year (2003-08) stint there.
Interestingly, Airtel, a brand Mahajan worked on closely at Rediffusion, also moved to JWT in August 2010. At JWT, however, working on the Airtel account is not part of Mahajan's immediate mandate.
In 1995, Mahajan obtained a bachelors degree in fine arts from the College of Art (Delhi) and went on to complete the Surface Designing Program from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (Delhi). Soon after, he worked as textile designer with fashion designer Satya Paul.
Mahajan's foray into the advertising industry began in 1996 when he joined FCB Ulka as junior art director. Here, he worked on brands such as HM (Contessa Classic Car), LML Vespa, Usha (sewing machines and fans) and Lerros Garments. In 1997, Mahajan moved to McCann Erickson as art director. Here, some of the premium brands he worked on include Microsoft, Bacardi, Coca-Cola, Motorola, GM, Nestle, Reckitt and Air Canada.
In 2000, he joined Contract Advertising as creative group head. At Contract, he was closely involved with the product launches of the Grand Vitara (SUV from Maruti Suzuki) and ABN-AMRO Bank's SmartGold card.
In 2003, Mahajan moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to join Leo Burnett/Arc Worldwide as senior art director. It only got bigger and better when he joined McCann Erickson, Kuala Lumpur in 2007, this time as creative group head.
His most recent tenure at Rediffusion, Delhi as creative head began in 2008 and it was here that Mahajan worked on brands such as Bharti Airtel and LG.
