Bates 141 wins Leela Delhi's restaurant business

The hospitality group plans to open one of the most expensive hotels in the country by early 2011.

Following a multi agency pitch, the Delhi branch of Bates 141 has won the creative duties for three exclusive restaurants of Leela Palaces, Hotels & Resorts in New Delhi. These brands are the glass restaurant, The Qube; the Indian cuisine restaurant, Jamavar and the lounge bar, Library.

Reliable sources in the industry have confirmed the development. However, Bates officials were unavailable for comment.

The group plans to open a hotel in Chanakyapuri, Delhi early next year. It is expected to be the most luxurious and expensive one in India. The 260 room Leela Palace Kempinski, New Delhi, which is targeted at the HNI group, will be located in the exclusive diplomatic enclave in proximity to the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Prime Minister's office, ministries, embassies, central business districts and historical monuments.

The company called for the pitch in September. The agencies had to go through two rounds of presentations before getting the business.

The Leela Group now has an enhanced pan-India presence, with more than six hotels in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Goa, Kovalam, Udaipur, Gurgaon and now, New Delhi, which is the latest addition.

The group also has marketing alliances with Germany-based hotelier Kempinski and the US based Preferred Hotel Group. It is also a member of the Geneva based Global Hotel Alliance, the world's largest alliance of independent luxury hotel brands.
