After the demise of Atul Maheswari, his younger brother Rajul has taken over the responsibilities earlier handled by him.

Rajul Maheswari has been appointed as the managing director of Amar Ujala Publications with immediate effect, following the death of his elder brother, Atul Maheswari, earlier this month. Atul Maheswari was the former chairperson and managing director (MD) of the group. He died on January 3, at the age of 55.

Atul Maheswari had been associated with the media industry for 37 years, during which he took the group to new heights. Under the guidance of his father, he learnt the nuances of the print industry in Bareilly, moving to Meerut in 1986 where he was responsible for setting up the city edition.

Since the last 24 years, Rajul has been a full-time director of the Amar Ujala Group, handling the group's finance and circulation-related activities. In addition, until now, he was also responsible for handling the Kanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Allahabad and Varanasi editions of Amar Ujala.

Founded on April 18, 1948, by Rajul's father, the late Murari Lal Maheswari, the newspaper was published from Agra as a four-page edition, with a circulation of 2,576 copies.

Rajul, a graduate of Shri Ram College of Commerce, has 24 years of experience in managing the newspaper business. In the course of his career, he has played a vital role in modernising the human resource, administration, marketing and finance departments of the group.
