All's not well with Rediffusion Y&R

Three of its top executives from its Mumbai office have put in their papers.

Late evening on Monday, afaqs! was tipped off that four senior executives of Rediffusion Y&R have put in their papers. Three of them were from Mumbai and one was from the South. When afaqs! tried to verify the accuracy of this news, either people were on denial mode or refused to comment on it.

However, on Tuesday, sources close to the development, confirmed three of the four exits to afaqs!. Minakshi Achan chief creative officer; Nisha Singhania, executive vice president (Mumbai) and Anisha Sarin, executive creative director, have all put in their papers.

This seems to be another setback for Rediffusion-Y&R and yet again the agency finds itself under the spotlight for the wrong reasons. A few months ago, Mahesh Chauhan, group CEO, Rediffusion Y&R quit the agency and D Rajappa subsequently stepped into his shoes at the agency within the capacity of president.

With this move, Achan has severed her 11-year long relationship with Rediffusion. An MBA from IIM Bengaluru, Achan stepped into the advertising industry with MAA Bozell and gathered experience at agencies such as JWT and Leo Burnett before joining Rediffusion.

Achan's next destination is still unclear – though, sources tip off, she might join one of her ex colleagues in a new venture which is slated to be launched next month.

afaqs! has also learnt that Singhania's next stop is Saatchi & Saatchi where she will join to head the agency's Mumbai branch. Also a management graduate, Singhania is a product of NMIMS (Narsee Monjee Institute of Management), Mumbai. She began her career with Grey (management) back in 1997 and five years later moved on to to Ambience Publicis (planning). Post a stint with Burnett and a return trip to Grey, Singhania found her way to Rediffusion where she grew to head the agency's Mumbai branch.
