Starcom Worldwide strengthens Delhi team

Tarun Nigam assumes additional responsibilities, while Sulina Menon has joined the agency as executive director, Team Samsung at Starcom.

Starcom Worldwide has made several key management changes in its Delhi office. For one, Tarun Nigam has been given a broader role - in addition to his current role as executive director, North, Starcom India, Nigam will spearhead the business impact division of the Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) on a national level. This division will focus on process optimisation.

Commenting on the development, CVL Srinivas, chairperson, SMG India, says in an official communiqué, "Tarun will provide leadership to the critical area of process optimisation. There are several initiatives we are undertaking at a group level and he will be the SMG lead on these initiatives."

Secondly, Deepak Sharma, who had left Starcom last year as group account director to join Dentsu, returns to Starcom as general manager and will be responsible for the non-Samsung businesses at the Delhi office. Sharma had a five-year stint with Starcom earlier, and brings with him a decade of experience. He has worked at Maxus and more recently, Dentsu. Sharma will report to Nigam.

There are also some senior appointments on Starcom's Team Samsung. Sulina Menon has been appointed executive director on Team Samsung, while Girish Upadhyay comes on board as general manager. Earlier, Menon was strategic media advisor, Cheil, and has worked with Carat, Zee Group, and Contract. Upadhyay has been transferred from Starcom Mumbai, where he was group account director. He brings with him around a decade of experience.

On these developments, Srinivas remarks, "These appointments are in line with our objective of enhancing client delight across all our markets. We are in the process of strengthening teams in other markets as well."

Srinivas reveals that MediaVest, which started off with a Mumbai operation, will soon have a presence in Delhi and Bengaluru.

In addition to the above developments, Anita Bose joins VivaKi Exchange as senior vice-president, and will be the SMG buying lead in Delhi. Bose was, more recently, with GroupM as general manager, MEC, and has more than a decade's experience in media buying and client management.

Mona Jain, chief operating officer, VivaKi Exchange, remarks, "Anita's rich experience in media buying, coupled with the passion she brings to the business, will help drive value for our clients."
