Mumbai to get a new Hindi tabloid, Metro 7 Days

The Mumbai edition of the tabloid will be followed by editions across Goa, New Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Nagpur, Ranchi, Indore and Bhopal in the subsequent months to come.

Metro Daily News India, a media consultancy, is all set to launch its first Hindi publication, Metro 7 Days, in Mumbai, on May 22. The Hindi tabloid will bear a cover price of Rs 2.

This 24-page edition aims to cater to the changing reading habits of the upwardly mobile readers, with a focus on youth and women readers. The initial print run of the tabloid will be 10,00,000 copies. The company plans to target a pre-paid subscriber base of 50,000 readers.

Ashutosh Shrivastava, director, projects, Metro Daily News India, says, "Metro 7 Days is an extensively researched project. We have designed our publication, keeping in mind the changing trends in the readership pattern of people. This tabloid will strive to be interactive, in order to establish a lively relationship with its readers."

The company, in the coming months, plans to start multiple editions from Goa, New Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Nagpur, Ranchi, Indore and Bhopal.

Says Rajendra Desai, director, finance, Metro Daily News India, "The subscription campaign to achieve a healthy pre-paid subscriber base has already been set in motion and we are swiftly moving towards it."
