GroupM, the media planning and buying agency of the WPP group, has roped in Karthik Nagarajan as national director, social media and insights. Earlier, Nagarajan was working with The Nielsen Company as director of its online division.
Digital arms of GroupM include Mindshare Interaction, Motivator, Maxus Interaction, MEC Interaction, Quasar BMS (Brand and Media Solutions) and Blazar.
Nagarajan has about 10 years of experience in the industry. He was involved in the establishment of the online division of Nielsen and was part of the team which launched NM Incite, the global joint venture of The Nielsen Company and McKinsey, in India. NM Incite offers social media monitoring and advisory services related to online reputation management, consumer feedback and market research to advertisers. However, it does not execute or manage social media marketing campaigns.
Nagarajan spent more than two-and-a-half years at The Nielsen Company. Before Nielsen, he worked with Shipcom Wireless (formerly Shipco Wireless) as director, business development. Shipcom Wireless deals in provision of integrated supply chain execution software solutions. He has also worked with the business research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, as industry manager for more than four years.
