MPG India promotes Mohit Joshi as managing partner; appoints Gautam Rajagopal as VP, investments

While Joshi was executive director, North, MPG, Rajagopal joins the agency from Beehive Communications.

MPG India, the flagship brand of Havas Media, has announced some senior management changes. Mohit Joshi, executive director, North, MPG, has been promoted as managing partner for India, while Gautam Rajagopal has been appointed vice-president, investments, West India.

Joshi joined MPG India in 2007 to handle the Reckitt Benckiser business and was later promoted to the role of executive director of Delhi operations. He has played an important role in enhancing the profile of the agency through new business growth, helping the agency clinch businesses such as MTS, Hyundai, Clarks, M3M and Tulip.

His experience of more than 15 years includes stints at Mindshare (erstwhile HTA), Universal McCann and ZenithOptimedia. He worked on brands such as GSK, Pepsi, Dabur, Hero Honda, Nestle, Reckitt Benckiser and Hyundai, among others.

On Joshi's promotion, Anita Nayyar, chief executive officer, MPG India and South Asia, says, "I have worked closely with Mohit for more than four years now and admire his commitment and attitude towards clients and the brands. Joshi tells afaqs! that his immediate mandate ahead is to grow the business further with aggressive client acquisitions.

Rajagopal, on the other hand, joins MPG India from Beehive Communications, where he was vice-president, media services. He will report to Kunal Jamuar, the newly-appointed head of MPG's West India operations.

Rajagopal comes in with 16 years of experience in broadcast investment, with stints at OMS (a division of Mudra), Starcom and Carat. Among the various brands he has worked on across categories include HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, Parle, Bisleri, P&G, Heinz, Skoda, Bajaj and Cadbury.

On his new role, Rajagopal says, "I look forward to streamlining buying for West India and playing a key role in new business development along with Kunal Jamuar."

"Joshi's promotion and the appointment of Jamuar and Rajagopal in our Mumbai office underline the new momentum at MPG India. We have aggressive plans for the year and with the capable team at the helm, we are looking at the fruition of these plans," says Nayyar.
