SMG India restructures senior management

Dinesh Rathore, Narendra Alambara and Sriram Sharma have been promoted to the post of vice-president. They will now be a part of the national leadership team.

Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) India, has promoted three general managers (GM) to the post of vice-president. While Dinesh Rathore was the GM of the Mumbai branch, Narendra Alambara was in charge of the Chennai branch. Sriram Sharma was the head of the Bengaluru office.

Rathore, Alambara and Sharma, in their new roles as vice-presidents, will be part of the national leadership team. They will continue to report to Mallikarjunadas CR, chief executive officer, SMG.

While Rathore has been associated with the company for 11 years, Alambara has completed six years, and Sharma is close to completing two years with SMG.

Rathore, who until now, was general manager, India - West, MediaVest Worldwide, started his career with Mudra Communications, Ahmedabad. In March 2000, he joined Starcom, Bengaluru, and has worked on brands such as Toyota, Sun Microsystems, Sab Miller India, WorldSpace, Essilor. He also played a key role in launching Air Deccan.

In 2006, Rathore moved to Starcom, Mumbai, where he was in charge of buying before he was made the head of FutureWorks, a dedicated team for Future Group. As GM India - West, Rathore has been given the mandate to build and develop the MediaVest brand for the western region of India. Rathore, who has over 14 years of experience in the media industry, spent nine years with SMG.

Alambara has been instrumental in setting up the operation of Starcom Chennai in 2005. He has over 15 years of experience across account planning and media planning functions. Prior to joining SMG, Alambara was heading Initiative and MPG in the South. During the course of his career, Alambara has worked on many brand launches, and has been involved with key clients of SMG including Unilever, MRF, Saint-Gobain, Intel, and Dell.

Sharma has over 13 years of experience in media planning, media buying and strategic brand building. Prior to Starcom, Sharma was the general manager of Maxus, Bengaluru. In the past, he has worked with OnMobile Global, where he played a key role in launching AdRBT, wherein targeted ad jingles could be played to the end consumers. He holds a post-graduate degree in marketing.

In an official statement, Mallikarjunadas says, "Rathore as head of Mumbai, Alambara as head of Chennai and Sharma as head of Bengaluru, have been the pillars of the company. Their passion for product, people and process is well-known, and I am confident that as part of the national leadership team, they will continue adding more value to clients and the company."
