Arnab Mitra has joined the Starcom MediaVest Group, as national director, digital. He will report to Mallikarjunadas CR, chief executive officer of Starcom MediaVest Group India. Mitra, who joined on June 28, will be based in Mumbai. Prior to this, Mitra was regional director, India and South Asia at Media Contacts, the digital agency of Havas Media.
In an official communiqué, the company mentions that Mitra's appointment is in line with the vision to take Starcom MediaVest Group to the next level, building it on the pillars of research, insights, digital and content.
Mitra will be part of the national leadership team at Starcom MediaVest Group India, along with the branch heads of Starcom Worldwide and MediaVest Worldwide, as well as the heads for insights and research and business impact functions.
Mitra, who has a decade's experience in digital media, joined Media Contacts in 2009 as head, strategy, India. He was promoted as regional director in November 2010. Mitra, who was responsible for the profit and loss of Media Contacts in India, was also handling three other markets, including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
At Media Contacts, he has handled digital marketing for advertisers such as Bank of Baroda, Capgemini (IT and business technology firm), X-Trade Brokers (online brokerage firm), KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, and INQ (mobile phone manufacturer).
Earlier, Mitra was head of business development at Ignitee Digital. He has also worked with the UK-based agency Purple Media, Pinstorm, and Indigo Consulting.
