Hemant Sachdev quits Microsoft India

Sachdev was joint managing director, consumer and online business, Microsoft India.

afaqs! has learnt from reliable sources in the industry that Hemant Sachdev, who joined Microsoft India in 2008 as joint managing director, consumer and online business, has put in his papers yesterday (June 30). He will serve his notice period for the next 90 days.

Consumer and online business includes consumer software, Windows Mobile, Windows Live, MSN and the other online services and search businesses (Bing) of Microsoft India.

Sachdev has more than 22 years of experience. Prior to Microsoft, he was with the Bharti Airtel Group, where he was part of the chairman's apex team, working as group director, brand and corporate communication, and was responsible for building the Airtel brand.

Before Bharti, Sachdev managed the retail operations at McCann Erickson and Foote, Cone & Belding (FCB), where he partnered with global companies, across sectors such as telecom, retail, media, entertainment and communication.

He has received significant recognitions, including that of Marketing Professional of the Year (2002), India's Achievers and Leadership Award for Excellence (2004), Best Marketing Strategy of the Year -- Retail (2004), and India's Top Marketing Director Award (2006).
