BCCL appoints Shrijeet Mishra as COO

Mishra Joins BCCL from Hindustan Unilever where he was the executive director foods, and chairman, Unilever Nepal.

Bennett, Coleman & Company Limited (BCCL) has roped in Shrijeet Mishra as chief operating officer, effective today. Mishra will also be a part of the BCCL board as executive director. He comes in from Hindustan Unilever, where he was the executive director foods, and chairman, Unilever Nepal.

In his new role, Mishra will be responsible for all functions at BCCL except for Response, the advertising and marketing outfit of the group. Therefore, all BCCL functional directors, excluding Response, will report to him. Based in Mumbai, Mishra will report to Ravi Dhariwal, chief executive officer, BCCL.

Mishra spent his entire professional career spanning 24 years at HUL. He had joined the company in 1987. His experience comprises stints in general management, marketing innovation and activation, brand and services development, sales management and project management.

During his stint with the company, Mishra launched several new brands and helped create new categories. The principal ones amongst these include Lifebuoy Liquid and Gold, Ponds and Vaseline Body Lotions, deodorants and Domex in the home and personal care segment, Knorr Soupy Noodles and Meal Makers, Kissan Soy juice, Kissan creamy spreads, Brooke Bond Sehatmand Tea, Bru Cappuccino, Lipton Green Tea and Lipton Ice Tea in the Foods segment.

Of his 24 years with HUL, Mishra spent three years in the Asia-AMET (Africa, Middle-East (West Asia), Turkey) region as vice-president.

Mishra graduated from Hindu College, Delhi university, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Economics. He then went on to complete his post-graduate diploma in business management from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has also completed his advanced management programme at Wharton, USA.
