STAR India's head of non-south regional channels, Ravish Kumar quits

Kumar joined the network in August 2009, to replace J C Giri, and assume responsibility for STAR Pravah and STAR Jalsha, the Marathi and the Bengali general entertainment channels, respectively.

In a recent development, Ravish Kumar, who was executive vice-president and general manager for regional channels at STAR India, has quit the network. With this, Kumar ends a stint of two years with the company.

While no official comment was forthcoming at the time of filing the report, sources close to the development have confirmed the same to afaqs!.

His next destination could not be ascertained.

Kumar joined the network in August 2009, to replace J C Giri, and take over the responsibility for STAR Pravah and STAR Jalsha, the Marathi and the Bengali general entertainment channels, respectively, from the STAR stable.

Meanwhile at STAR, Kevin Vaz who is president ad sales, has been given the additional responsibility to head Jalsha as general manager. Nachiket Pantvaidya will now take care of STAR Pravah as executive vice-president and general manager. Prior to this, he was managing director, Fox TV Studios.

Kumar has more than 17 years of experience in sales and brand management, across companies in India, the US and the UK. He joined STAR from Reckitt Benckiser in the UK, where he was global category director.

Prior to Reckitt Benckiser, where he spent close to three-and-half years, Kumar worked as marketing director at McCormick & Co. Earlier, he was product manager, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and associate product manager at ConAgra Foods.

Kumar is a post graduate from the Kellogg School of Management, and Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Delhi.
