The iPad version of the music site will be monetised via advertising -- skin branding and sponsorship.
Times Internet, the digital arm of Bennett Coleman & Company Limited (BCCL), has launched the iPad version of its music website, Gaana.com. The entire collection of about 10 lakh songs in Hindi, English and regional languages will be made available on the Apple iPad for free.
The internet company plans to make available Gaana.com across other platforms, as well. "Gaana.com applications will be launched for Android, BlackBerry and Apple iPhone platforms, and browser-based apps will also be unveiled for other tablet computers in the next phase. The iPad version of the music site will be monetised via advertising. Advertisers will be offered ad options like skin branding or sponsorship opportunities," the spokesperson adds.
Times Internet claims that more than 1.4 million unique visitors log on to Gaana.com every month, and about 11.7 million song plays were received within the first month of the launch of the music site. On an average, a user spends more than nine minutes per visit on Gaana.com.
The internet company also owns the iPad version of 'The Times of India' newspaper, which is available to users for free.
