GEC Watch: Star Plus stays on top with a 32-point GRP jump over Week 49

For Star Plus, the win has primarily come on the back of Saathiya Saath Nibhana, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, and Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, which within the Hindi GEC slice, were the most-viewed shows during the given period.

According to the latest data from TAM (C&S 4+, HSM), Star Plus has not just maintained its top spot in Week 50, but has taken a 32-point leap over the previous week, to garner 350 GRPs for the week ended December 10, 2011.

For Star Plus, the win has primarily come on the back of Saathiya Saath Nibhana, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, and Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, which were the most-viewed shows during the given period, within the Hindi GEC slice.

As a result, the channel's relative market share has also moved up from 24.6 per cent (Week 49), to 26.6 per cent (Week 50).

Although Sony continues to be in the No. 2 slot, it has suffered a loss both in terms of GRPs, as well as channel share. While its GRPs have dipped from 240 points to 228 points, its channel share has moved down from 18.5 per cent to 17.3 per cent.

Colors at No. 3, has garnered 225 points for the week, down from the 227 points that it had earned in the previous week. Meanwhile, its relative shares have dipped from 17.6 per cent, to 17.1 per cent.

Zee TV continues to be at No. 4, with its GRPs stable at 152 points, while its relative shares have dipped from 11.7 per cent to 11.5 per cent.

The rest of the rankings remain more or less the same as the previous week. SAB TV is at No. 5 with a share of 8.9 per cent (9.3 per cent in the previous week), its GRPs moving down from 120 to 117.

Imagine TV is at No. 6, with a share of 5.8 per cent (5.9 per cent in the previous week), and a stable GRP of 77 points during the given period.

DD1 is at No. 7 with a share of 3.9 per cent as compared to 4 per cent in the previous week; but, it has garnered 52 GRPs as opposed to 51 in Week 48.

Sahara One is at No. 8, with a 3.1 per cent channel share, as compared to 3 per cent in the previous week, and 41 GRPs, the same as in the previous week.

STAR One is at No. 9 with 3.1 per cent share, as compared to 3 per cent in Week 49, while its GRPs have moved one point ahead -- from 39 to 40, this week.

STAR Utsav, with 2.3 per cent share (2.2 per cent in the previous week), and 31 GRPs (29 points in the previous week) is at No. 10.

Zee Smile follows next with 3 GRPs, and 0.2 per cent channel share.

Saathiya Saath Nibhana (Star Plus) leads the list of the 10 most-watched programmes, clocking a TVR of 7.58, followed by Diya Aur Baati Hum and Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, with TVRs of 5.7 and 5.22, respectively.

The fourth most-watched programme is Is Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, with 4.99 TVR.

Balika Vadhu (4.78 TVR), and Sasural Simar Ka (4.65 TVR) follow next. Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, C.I.D., and Pratigya are also a part of the Top 10 list.
