Samsung India Electronics has named B D Park as managing director. Prior to this, Park was director, mobile and IT at Samsung India.
As part of his new mandate, Park will oversee the operations of Samsung India Electronics (SIEL), Samsung India Software Operations (SISO), Samsung's research and development centre at Bengaluru, Samsung India Software Centre (SISC), and SEL India, Samsung's research and development centres at Noida, as well as the company's operations in the SAARC region.
Commenting on his new role, Park says in an official statement, "It will be my endeavour to leverage the synergies of the existing Samsung businesses in India to ensure stronger growth for the company in this region and make Samsung the most loved brand in the country."
Park brings with him over 28 years of work experience at Samsung. He started his career with Samsung Electro Mechanics Co in 1983. He joined Samsung Electronics in 1991, and has worked in the overseas marketing planning group in Korea, Samsung Latin America RHQ. He was also head of the company's subsidiary at Chile. Park became director of the mobile export team in 2001, and head of South East Asia /South West Asia/West Asia marketing group in global mobile business in 2004. He came to India as the head of the mobile and IT division in 2008, and has now been elevated to the position of president and CEO, Samsung South West Asia.
