Rana Barua moves on from Red FM

Currently serving his notice period at the radio station, Red FM's outgoing chief operating officer's next destination is still under wraps.

Red FM 93.5 Network's chief operating officer Rana Barua has called it a day, ending a stint that lasted for almost two years. No official comment could be ascertained on the development, but reliable sources in the industry have confirmed Barua's move.

Currently serving his notice period at Red FM, Barua's plans ahead are not yet known. He remained unavailable for comment at the time of filing this report.

A veteran in the circles, Barua worked for four years in Radio City, prior to Red FM. He joined Radio City in 2006 as head, South zone, and was responsible for the Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad markets. Barua moved up the ranks to become the national marketing head, and eventually quit the station as executive vice-president and national head, programming and marketing.

As part of the restructuring process at Radio City, Barua also took up the additional responsibility of programming in 2007.

Besides radio, Barua has a decade's experience in advertising. Before moving to Radio City, he was with Bates Enterprises heading the agency's Mumbai branch. He began with JWT in 1993 as an account executive and moved to Ogilvy India in a year's time. Barua also had long stints at McCann Erickson and Rediffusion-Y&R, where he handled senior management responsibilities.
