Himanka Das joins Carat Media as senior vice-president, West

Das moves in from Lintas Media Group where he was vice-president, Karishma Initiative.

Himanka Das has joined Carat Media as senior vice-president, West. Prior to joining Carat, Das was with Lintas Media Group as vice-president, Karishma Initiative.


In his new role, Das will report to Kartik Iyer, managing director, Carat India.

In an official communique, Iyer says, "I had the opportunity to work with Das in the past, when he has proved himself to be a great team leader. Moreover, his strong background in strategic planning will be a great asset to Carat Media in India, where he will play a pivotal role in this growth phase of Carat."

Iyer and Das have worked together at Lintas Media Group.

Das is a Physics graduate from Gauhati University, and holds a dual Master's degree in Foreign Trade Management, as well as in Mass Communication studies from the University of Pune. In 1995, he joined Bhatia Shipping and Agencies as a marketing and sales executive. In 1996, he moved to MARS as research executive. After a short stint of 10 months, Das moved to Madison DMB & B as media planner.

He moved to FCB ULKA (now Draftfcb Ulka) as media group head in 2002. A year later, in 2003, he shifted to Lintas Media Group as media director. At Lintas, he rose to the position of vice-president.

Das has spent more than 15 years in media, working on brands like Jyothy Laboratories, Union Bank of India, Samsonite Group, Bharat Petroleum, Hamdard, Maruti Udyog, Bajaj Auto, Tata Mutual Fund, DSP Black Rock Asset Management, Sa Re Ga Ma, Britannia, the erstwhile Balsara Hygiene, Coca-Cola India, Unilever, P&G, Agrotech Foods, Birla White, and National Dairy Development Board.
