Rakesh Singh moves to Ghana as head of planning, mediaReach OMD

In his new role, he will head the Ghana branch and handle the Vodafone business. Earlier, Singh was AV-P, ZenithOptimedia India.

Rakesh Singh is all set to join mediaReach OMD as head of planning. In his new role, Singh will head the Ghana branch (located in the capital city of Accra) and also handle the Vodafone business. He will report to the UK office of the agency.

Prior to this, Singh was associate vice-president, Delhi, ZenithOptimedia India.

Confirming the development to afaqs!, Singh says, "After spending more than 14 years working across India, I thought it was time to test international shores. The African market is a very similar to that of India in terms of growth and development patterns. Also, the role excited me, as it gave me the opportunity to develop exciting businesses and acquire new ones."

Singh is a management graduate with specialisation in Marketing and Foreign Trade from the University of Kochi. He has also obtained a Masters degree in Advertising and Marketing. He began his career with Eenadu Television, Hyderabad in sales in 1999. In 2000, he started his career in media planning as a media planner with Mediacom. In 2003, he joined GroupM's Mindshare Fulcrum as business group head.

He then shifted to Mindshare, Mumbai as business director, where he was head of the planning function for the ABG account. Later, he was promoted to the role of senior business director. In 2010, he joined ZenithOptimedia.

Some of the key accounts handled by Singh in the past are Unilever (Sunsilk, Vaseline, Huggies, Ponds), Kingfisher airlines, Castrol Lubricants, McDowell's, Airtel, Rolex, Wrigleys, Arvind Mills and Ceat Tyres.
