G K Singh bids adieu to Sakal Media

Singh, who had joined the Pune-based media house as head, North and East, is serving his notice period at the company.

Sakal Media is undergoing considerable changes in its top level management, brought on primarily due to the exit of many of its senior level executives. After L S Krishnan, business head, and Indranil Datta, head, marketing called it a day at the company, G K Singh, head, North and East, Sakal Media has also put in his papers.

While Krishnan will continue his stint until the end of this financial year (March 31), Datta left on February 18. Singh is serving his notice period and his last day at the company will be April 5. Singh did not disclose his next destination. However, he informs afaqs! that he will continue to be in the media sector.

Singh joined Sakal Media in March, 2011 and reported to Gaurish Pathare, head, ad sales, Sakal (print division). Earlier, he was associated with Mid-Day Infomedia as associate vice-president, North, till late 2010.

With 22 years of experience, Singh started his career in 1990 as an ad executive at the Indian Express and rose to the post of senior manager when he left the company after eight years. After that, he was associated with Chitralekha Gujarati as branch head, Delhi for the next two years. Subsequently, he launched the Varanasi edition of Amar Ujala and was the unit head of the publication at Varanasi for two years.

He has also been associated with Navabharat Chhattisgarh as head, North for two-and-a-half years, followed by a stint of more than two years at Media Transasia as head of Swagat, the in-flight magazine of Air India. He has also worked with Sandesh as deputy general manager.

Singh holds an MBA degree and has also dabbled in television. He was associated with a group called Multimedia in 1994.
