Both accounts were won following multi-agency pitches that were called at the beginning of March. While Huawei is stepping into digital in India for the first time, the incumbent agency on the Hitachi business is Dentsu Digital.

Commenting on the wins, Suraj Nagappa, group business director, digital, DDB MudraMax, says, "Both Hitachi and Huawei are important wins for us. We won the business in a closely contested pitch with five agencies. We are happy that our clients have shown faith in us and are excited to work with both teams."

Nagappa adds, "Hitachi is a premium brand. We knew about the upcoming Auto Clean air conditioner from the Hitachi stable and our entire strategy was directed at highlighting that very technology. Huawei, on the other hand, is taking on the digital platform for the first time. Its products are expensive and typically B2B. We knew that normal banner advertising would not help here as that does not serve the targeted group and we, accordingly, designed the strategy that helped us win the account."

Both accounts will be handled out of Delhi.

HHLI, headquartered in India at Ahmedabad, Gujarat is focused on the development and supply of high-quality products and technology and is a company listed on the national bourses. The company's manufacturing facility at Kadi, Gujarat, is among the 10 Hitachi air-conditioner facilities worldwide.

Huawei is a Chinese telecom infrastructure and solutions company with core interests in building telecommunications networks; providing operational and consulting services and equipment to enterprises; and manufacturing communications devices for the consumer market.

On the development, Sathyamurthy Namakkal, president and head of media, DDB MudraMax, says, "With our full-fledged and highly qualified digital teams across offices, we are best poised to offer complex and first of its kind digital solutions to our clients. Huawei and Hitachi are very exciting wins for us with immense scope for creative digital solutions."
