Cannes 2012: Ten shortlists for India in Design and Radio Lions

DDB Mudra Group leads the Design shortlists with six nominations; hopes of TBWA India and BBH India float with a Design nomination each, McCann and Leo Burnett bag a shortlist each in Radio Lions.

Day 3 at the International Advertising Festival, Cannes continues with hopes high for India. In the shortlists announced for Design and Radio Lions, Indian agencies have a total of 10 entries featured - eight in Design and two in Radio.

There are no Indian mentions in the Cyber Lions shortlists, though.

DDB Mudra Group Mumbai rides high with six shortlists in Design. The agency's work for Incredible India (The Hinglish Project) has earned it two Design shortlists (in the Consumer Services and Design Typography sub-categories).

Other shortlists of the agency in Design Lions include its work for Volkswagen Beetle (Iconic), two for Volkswagen Attention Assist System (Moustache Gym and Musical Jungle) and for Geebees Beverages' Coffee Gold (Stay Alert -- New York Blackout).

In the run-up to the festival, Sonal Dabral, chairman and chief creative officer, DDB Mudra Group had expressed his optimism for the Coffee Gold campaign to afaqs!.

TBWA India's national creative director, Rahul Sengupta too had earlier said how the agency will bank on its design work at Cannes. The bet was not without reason, with the agency bagging a Design Lions shortlist for the logo design of MKV Household Products' Elephant Combs.

BBH India, too, has earned a shortlist in Design with the agency's work for Movies Now (Chaplin Chapters).

In Radio Lions, Indian agencies have bagged two shortlists. McCann Worldgroup Mumbai and Leo Burnett India have a shortlist each, with McCann's Delay campaign for Lasky Herbal Plusuer - Plus Condoms and Leo Burnett's work for Strand Book Stall, titled Punishment.
