The issue adapted and applied the Olympic motto, 'Faster, Higher, Stronger', to six broad categories to define Mumbai: maximum city, sports, Bollywood, food, lifestyle and technology. Each story or each personality the tabloid profiled highlighted at least one of the three characteristics of Olympics listed above.

The anniversary special issue had six sections of 24 pages each, making it a total of 144 pages of content. The issue had 64 pages in the main edition; in addition to its real estate supplement Hot Property. The total package was more than 200 pages, and came in a carry bag sponsored by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

Prior to the launch of the issue, the tabloid ran an impact cover in Mid-Day on June 28 issue informing readers about the same. There were banner ads on Midday.com informing the readers about what to look forward to in the anniversary issue.

The tabloid roped in more than 200 advertisers for the special issue, which included many first time advertisers in Mid-Day such as Dove, Techno Kitchen, Society Tea, Kores, DDB, The Grand Bhagwati, and Garden Varelli, among others.

Talking about the advertisers, Manajit Ghoshal, managing director and chief executive officer, Mid-Day, says, "Mid-Day anniversary issues have always been about the spirit of Mumbai and all advertisers, big and small, local and national, participate whole heartedly in the anniversary issue. This year was no exception. Our advertisers and well wishers came forward in strength and laid low all talks of recession. It was an exceptional issue in terms of content and a great exposure for our advertisers."

Mid-Day is owned by Jagran Prakashan Group (JPL). The tabloid has its presence in Mumbai and Pune.
