Zee back at No. 1; Star Plus and Colors fall

The top four Hindi GECs have undergone a complete shuffle in Week 36. On the back of the sixth season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Sony, too, has gained about 34 points to garner 244 GRPs in the current week ended September 9.

On the back of its flagship property DID Superkids and the popular fiction show Pavitra Rishta, Zee TV has regained its No. 1 position in the top general entertainment channel (GEC) flock. The programming mix has helped the GEC gain 24 extra points to reach 251 GRPs in Week 36, up from last week's 227 GRPs. Also, a significant drop in Star Plus and Colors' GRPs has enabled Zee TV to climb up the GEC ladder.

Along with this, the channel's other popular property, Pavitra Rishta is also doing well. It has sustained its entry amongst the top programmes on GECs since Week 8 of 2012. The show had a special telecast called Mahasangam Pavitra Rishta, which lasted for 90 minutes.

For the records, the show, which was losing GRPs, geared up after it saw a 20 year leap in the story in the last week of December.

Meanwhile, Star Plus slipped to the second position with 250 GRPs, down from last week's 265 GRPs. The channel has lost 15 points in the current week.

Sony follows Star Plus at No. 3, on the back of the sixth season of its flagship property, Kaun Banega Crorepati. It has gained about 34 points to garner 244 GRPs in the current week ended September 9.

Colors slipped to No. 4, with a loss of 15 points to garner 229 GRPs in Week 36. Star's sibling GEC Life OK has once again overtaken the family comedy channel SAB TV in the race of Hindi GECs.

At No. 5, Life OK witnessed a 10-point rise during the week to close its grade with 141 GRPs. The channel is encashing its mythological property, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev.

Sony's sibling channel SAB TV has slipped to No. 6, despite a gain of five points to garner 136 GRPs in the current week (Week 36).

Sahara One, with 36 GRPs, stands at No. 7 in the top Hindi GECs list.

Since the launch of the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2000, the show has ruled the flock of top 10 programmes on GECs most of the time. It tops the list in the current week (which is the opening episode of the sixth season of the show) with 6.1 TVRs.

Star Plus' top show, Diya Aur Baati Hum (6.3 TVRs in the last week) and Colors' Balika Vadhu (6.4 TVRs in the last week) stand at No. 2 and 3, with 5.7 and 5.6 TVRs, respectively.

Zee's DID Superkids is at No. 4 with 4.8 TVRs (4.4 TVRs in the last week). Saathiya Saath Nibhana follows the list with 4.1 TVRs.

Sony's CID and Colors' Sasural Simar Ka stand at No. 6 and 7 with 3.9 and 3.8 TVRs, respectively. At No. 8, there is a tie between Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah and Pavitra Rishta, with 3.7 TVRs each.

Star's Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (3.6 TVRs) stands at No. 10.
