Bengaluru-based Himalaya Herbal Healthcare has appointed KarishmaLintas (an IPG company and part of the Lintas India Group) as its advertising agency. For starters, KarishmaLintas will handle the advertising and marketing communication for the brand's body lotions category.

The development is the result of a multi-agency pitch process that was initiated around September this year.

Ramakant Sista

Ramakant Sista, general manager, marketing, consumer products division, The Himalaya Drug Company, tells afaqs!, "We were impressed with the agency's quick turnaround time on the deliverables. It is a reflection of the seamless coordination between the creative, account planning and client servicing teams. Moreover, the agency places importance on market research and consumer studies. The team servicing the Himalaya account functioned well. Each member brought something unique to the table and was enthusiastic."

The upcoming ad campaign that is slated to break shortly will be led by television.

Regarding the role the brand's previous creative agency played in the recent past, Sista adds, "Meridian Communications has successfully helped us establish brands like purifying neem face wash and the shampoo range through clutter-breaking, creative advertisements. It has also helped us initiate communication on other products and categories like dental cream, soaps, kajal, fairness face wash and neem face pack. These brands are also active on social media. We look forward to working closely with Meridian for many more years to come."

Broadly speaking, Himalaya's products can be categorised into pharmaceutical, personal care and animal health categories.

The pharmaceutical range comprises medicinal products that can be classified into children's health, men's health, women's health and general health.

The company's range of personal care offerings comprises products under health care, oral care, hair care, skin care and baby care.

The range includes fairness creams, soap-free face washes, facial cleansers, face toners, moisturisers, soap-free shampoos, conditioners and hair-loss control, weight control, pimple control, foot care, multi-purpose cream, skin nutrient, dandruff control, anti-stress, digestive health, pain reliever, cough and cold reliever, oral care and baby care products.

The Himalaya logo is said to be a 'visual definition' of the company's brand identity. The orange leaf that forms the crossbar of the letter 'H' symbolises the company's focus on herbal healthcare. Further, the teal green colour represents its proximity to nature, while orange stands for warmth, vibrancy and commitment to caring. The Himalaya brand comes with the promise of good health and overall well being.
