Shankar Subramaniam moves from HT Media to Thanthi TV

Subramaniam, erstwhile AVP, media marketing, HT Media, had been with HT Media since 2005.

Tamil language news channel Thanthi TV, a division of Malar Publications (owners of Daily Thanthi), has appointed Shankar Subramaniam as vice-president and national head, marketing through its marketing division, Sovereign Media Marketing. Before this, Subramaniam was with HT Media as assistant vice-president, media marketing.


At Thanthi, his mandate will be to drive sales revenue for the channel. He will report to Rajeev Nambiar, chief executive officer, Malar Publications (owners of Hello FM and SMM).

Sovereign Media Marketing is responsible for marketing other brands of Malar Publications, which includes its flagship newspaper, the Daily Thanthi. The marketing arm is also the sales and marketing support team for the recently launched Thanthi TV.

Commenting on Subramaniam's appointment, Rajeev Nambiar, CEO, Malar Publications, says, "He comes in with a wealth of experience in sales and marketing across media verticals and various reputed media brands."

Subramaniam has more than two decades of experience in the media industry. He has, in the past, dealt with strategic planning, TV selling, marketing and sales. Starting off his career with Dinamalar, he moved on to Times Group and later, joined India Today. His stint at India Today lasted for six years.

In 2005, he joined HT Media, handling marketing and business development.
