Radio City takes its online spiritual music stream on air

RadioCity Smaran was launched in December 2012 on PlanetRadioCity.com, Radio City's web radio service, to stream spiritual music with assorted genres like Bhajans, Classical, Sufi, Chants, Wellness and Spiritual music.

Radio City 91.1FM has extended its digital spiritual music stream on air by renaming its morning band across all stations as 'RadioCity Smaran'. Starting this week, Radio City listeners can catch spiritual songs on 'RadioCity Smaran' between 5 am and 7 am.

RadioCity Smaran was launched in December 2012 on PlanetRadioCity.com, Radio City's web radio service, for streaming spiritual music with assorted genres like Bhajans, Classical, Sufi, Chants, Wellness and Spiritual music.

Speaking about the idea behind extending their digital stream on radio, Rachna Kanwar, SVP and Business Head, Digital Media and New Business, RadioCity 91.1 FM, says, "This is a natural progression towards taking our digital stream 'Radio City Smaran' to a wider audience."

Besides Smaran, PlanetRadioCity.com also houses streams like Fun Ka Antenna, Freedom, IndiPop and Hindi. Fun Ka Antenna was launched in 2012 as an online radio stream with music across film, non-film, sufi, ghazals, lounge, current, retro, in both Hindi and International languages. In 2012 PlanetRadiocity.com launched the four other streams with the last being Smaran.

PlanetRadiocity.com was launched in August 2008 as a music streaming portal which also aimed to enable community building and social networking features. The portal also has a section called Artist Space, which provides a platform to new artistes to showcase their talent to a captive audience.

Music Broadcast Private Limited (MBPL) owns Radio City 91.1FM and operates across 20 FM stations in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Vadodara, Surat, Sholapur, Nagpur, Sangli, Coimbatore, Vizag, Ahmednagar, Akola, Nanded and Jalgaon.
