British multinational coffee chain Costa Coffee has assigned its creative duties to Hakuhodo Percept. Other agencies in the fray for the account were Publicis, Havas, Contract and Bates.
The Delhi office of Hakuhodo Percept will handle the account under the leadership of Elvis Sequeira, executive director, Hakuhodo Percept. Jayanto Bannerjee, national planning director and Sabuj Sengupta, executive creative director will also work on the account with Sequeira.
Sequeira says, "Winning Costa is a fantastic feeling for all of us at Hakuhodo Percept. The agency will also carry out other consumer engagement activities in order to create buzz about the brand and make it a successful one."
Bannerjee says, "Costa has big plans in India and we are excited to be working alongside it at a time when the competition is really heating up."
Hakuhodo Percept is the 50:50 joint venture of Hakuhodo Inc., one of the largest advertising networks in Japan, and Percept. It was established in January, 2000 and offers services in brand management, advertising, marketing and media buying. Other divisions of Hakuhodo Percept are Gunpowder, Antidote and 4Studio.
Percept is an entertainment, media and communications company. It was founded in 1984 and has a team of 1,000 people with 62 offices across the country.
Costa Coffee entered India in 2005. It has more than 1,600 stores and is served in more than 25 countries across world. It was founded in London in 1971 by the Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa, as a wholesale operation supplying roasted coffee to caterers and specialist Italian coffee shops.
