Anil Kapoor, chairman emeritus, Draftfcb Ulka has been chosen for AAAI's (Advertising Agencies Association of India's) Lifetime Achievement Award, this year. The award is the highest honour an individual from the advertising industry receives for exemplary contribution to the industry.
Arvind Sharma, president, AAAI says Kapoor is a highly respected professional and an acknowledged leader in the industry. "Anil is known for his fair play and when it comes to competing, he always upheld the highest standards of professional integrity. By selecting Anil for this honour, AAAI salutes his contribution to the Indian advertising industry," he adds.
In his 25 years of experience, Kapoor has set a benchmark for strong business and managerial skills. He was one of the first Indian marketing and advertising professionals to be appointed in the leadership position abroad. He formerly held the role of global operating council and the regional president of Draftfcb Asia Pacific and Africa. Earlier, he was managing director and CEO of the agency.
Kapoor has been actively involved in industry bodies such as AAAI, ABC and NRS, among others. In fact, Kapoor was instrumental in setting up of NRS, an independent readership survey organisation in India.
Recently, Kapoor also did a stint with Stern School of Business, New York University, as a resident professor.
The AAAI Lifetime Achievement Award is bestowed to individuals who have done exemplary work in the areas of leadership of the industry as an individual, and contributed towards advancement and professionalism in the industry, or for exemplary personal integrity, values and ethics consistent with the standards expected.
Some of the other advertising veterans who have received this award include Ogilvy's Piyush Pandey, Madison World's Sam Balsara and former O&M chairman, Ranjan Kapur.
