Who can forget Sholay? The iconic film is about to make a comeback on the big screen in the 3D format in January this year. To promote the film, Sholay Media and Entertainment, the production company which has acquired the rights of the film, has released an online and mobile game called 'Sholay: Bullets of Justice'.
'Sholay' is a single player, finite level-based side scroller game. It narrates the story of two petty thieves - the laconic Jai and loquacious Veeru - who help the upright nobleman and disabled veteran cop Baldev Thakur. The game has a "wild west" feel and also portrays the locales of Ramgarh as in the movie, with each character having its own stylized animations.
"Sholay 3D is looking and sounding awesome! We have taken three years to painstakingly restore this film to an impressive quality level for all to enjoy for decades to come! We have recorded the film in dolby atmos 64 track stereo and converted the film into 3D. I am thrilled with the game play of Sholay: Bullets of Justice as it has 12 levels and is a complex game both on mobiles and on all other platforms. It is available now so download it and enjoy blasting through Sholay as Jai or Veeru or both," explains Sascha Sippy, chairman, Sholay Media and Entertainment.
The game will allow users to take out the dacoits attacking Jai and Veeru in a moving goods train and teach the dacoits lessons for harassing the villagers for money. It also features unshackling Basanti (Hema Malini) from the jaws of Gabbar Singh and provide solace to the disconsolate Radha (Jaya Bhaduri) by bringing the maniac to justice.
Neeraj Roy, MD and CEO, Hungama Digital Media, says, "The concept of gaming has caught on across the world and is gaining rapid pace especially in the mobile and connected devices environment. The Sholay: Bullets of Justice Game is engaging and addictive for the average gaming enthusiast. We hope to provide them with the ultimate gaming experience in the comfort of whichever connected environment they choose."
Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra-starrer cult film Sholay, which released 38 years ago, has been converted into 3D. The film will be released in January, 2014. The producers have planned the promotions in a big way and look forward to invite the entire industry for the mass screenings.First Published : September 25, 2014 04:04 PM
