Webdunia hosts special quiz for ad folk

Webdunia.com, the multilingual content provider, is hosting an advertising special quiz today. The hour-long quiz starts at 1.00 pm

Webdunia.com, which launched a multilingual online real-time quiz in association with Derek O'Brien (of the Bournvita Quiz Contest fame), last November, is hosting an advertising special quiz today. The hour-long quiz starts at 1.00 pm. Among the special guests on the quiz are MG Parameswaran, executive director, FCB Ulka, and well-known model Milind Soman.

Currently, the quiz on Webdunia is hosted in six languages - Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam and English. However, in the next two months the quiz will be available in five more languages - Bengali, Assamese, Oriya, Telegu and Punjabi.

The ad-special quiz will have 30 questions served in sets of five questions at a time. Each question will have four choices. On getting the right answer, the player would be awarded five points; however, there won't be any deductions for a wrong answer. And for just playing the quiz, the player gets 50 bonus points, which will be added to the points he/she scores in the quiz. For one to redeem the points against a prize, the total has to be a minimum of 500 points. The sponsors for the ad special quiz are Intel, Titan, BPL, Britannica, Oyzterbay and Godrej.

The winner will get a personal computer from Intel. However, the winner is not one who scores the highest in the ad special quiz; but one who has the highest cumulative score of the quizzes played in the last three months, plus the ad special quiz. The ‘special' quiz is one of the four quizzes on the site. The other three are the daily quiz, weekly quiz and the recently introduced ‘Jhatpat' quiz.

Talking about the benefit of having a multilingual quiz, Shakti Khanna, marketing manager, Webdunia, says, "This quiz allows a south Indian to compete with a north Indian in their respective mother tongue whereby both are served the same set of questions and judged by similar scoring parametes."

Apparently, the quiz has been quite successful. As of now, it is being played across all states in more than 400 cities and towns. And in less that than three months the quiz has picked up more than 4,00,000 die-hard participants.

The site claims that it gets over 35,00,000 page views per month and has around 10,00,000 registered users.
