Ford India Limited led the mid size car segment in June with sales of 1,728 IKONs. Which means Ford IKON sales have exceeded that of Maruti Esteem (769 units) and Hyundai Accent (1,105 units).

The Ford IKON remains a favourite in the mid size segment, with more than 11,200 units sold since launch. The company is focussing on reducing the delivery waiting period of the Ford IKON, to meet increasing customer demand. To facilitate a smooth delivery process, Ford India will step up the daily production to 100 units per day. Also on the anvil this year is the expansion of the service network from the current level to 66 outlets by the year end.

Commenting on the brand's exemplary performance, Philip G Spender, managing director, Ford India, said, "The Ford IKON's continuing popularity confirms the consumers' faith in the ‘josh' machine. This is reflected in the momentum behind the Ford IKON and its dominant market position."

Ford India enjoys a strong brand equity in the automotive market, according to a study conducted by IMRB, the country's leading market research agency. This study reveals that the brand awareness for the Ford IKON has grown at a rapid rate over the last six months and leads the mid size segment.

On June 23, 2000, Ford India introduced the Ford IKON EXi, the latest member of the ‘josh' team at an event in Calcutta. The Ford IKON EXi will be available at dealerships across India in July.
